Which part did I miss, CYBER? The fact that Lincoln suspended habeas corpus? I'm aware of that. This allows him to: Article I Section 8 The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it. Now the Supreme Court held his action was illegal and ordered him to rescind his action and he DID ignore the Court. But the Court was wrong. See above. and the Court was dominated by Southerners and Lincoln knew it. Had Lincoln been wrong, the next step would have been for the House of Representatives to pass a bill of impeachment. No such thing was even attempted. Are you aware that, in 1864, WITH THE CIVIL WAR STILL RAGING AND UNDECIDED, a national election was held in the middle of that civil war with opposition candidates, including Democratic (McClellan)? And you're going to jail 60 or 70 million Americans for THIS? Are you nuts? Lincoln had an advantage in that election, though. He was right. The people recognized it. They're harder to fool than you and Ray Duray think. He won the election easily. You talking about the Confederate spies in the North? What would you expect, the Confederacy was right across the front lines. My understanding is that the Middle East and Malayasia and Indonesia are thousands of miles away. But regardless of that, there are and long have been laws to take care of spies and saboteurs. They are federal felons and have long been subject to punishment by the death penalty. But where is this "Civil War" you claim is in progress? Because there are people who don't agree with you? Get used to it. It's called "democracy". You know something? I think you're an army of one. I bet you can't find another conservative that agrees with you that the Democrats should be jailed for disagreeing with you. I'm SURE you can't find very many. They aren't stupid. What about Libertarians? Do they go to the concentration camps too? They disagree with you about quite a few things. Including jailing political opponents. They'll be on the same side of the barricades as me. Where is this evidence of a current civil war? Protests? Rallies? Remember this? Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. If they stay peaceful, the cops get to watch them and leave them alone; if they don't the cops bust them. THEN they go to jail.
