Mqurice, We need more of your insight and on a more regular basis.

From your most recent post, Globalstar, GSM1x, etc- Would it be fair to say the best is yet to come for Qualcomm and its investors?

Hello,

Just got done reading the Q's 2003 Annual Report.

I see where CDMA 2000 EV-DO is "data optimized" providing a peak data rate of 2.4Mbps.

Alternatively, it is stated that WCDMA offers a peak data rate of 384 kbps.

While I have followed along since 1999 as a shareholder, that the WCDMA camp had ego and money invested in this technological pathway, I do not understand why they would strive to offer such a data-inferior solution. Seems dumb. In Europe, maybe the consumer has no choice. But what about parts of Asia where telecommunications providers are trying to choose between WCDMA and CDMA 2000. Seems like a no brainer.

What am I missing here?

On another note, we should keep a close eye on Indonesia. While we're all excited about China and India, and the USA, Indonesia is the 3rd or 4th most populous country in the world. Seems like CDMA is getting off to a slow start there, though the Annual Report notes several new launches of CDMA 2000 there.
