SofaSpud, history will prove that the war in Iraq was illegal and that the USA conned the whole world, except for the leaders of Canada,(Chretien)France, and Russia.Did you ever think that if Russia was still a super power, that we might have had another world war over the Iraq situation?Did you ever think that it was wrong for Saddam to murder his own people, but it is alright for the USA to murder them.I fail to see the difference. The USA now has another Vienam on it's hands, which will take years to resolve and many more lives will be needlessly lost.Contrary to what the USA foisted on the gulliable public,Saddam was not a threat to the world. The situation was being capably managed by the United Nations for the last 10 years,AS CHRETIEN STATED...

Would we get more thought in parliament if we had an effective opposition in this country? ... more thought as in clear expression of all aspects of an issue, the pros and cons brought out in open debate ... so many issues get complex and/or technical [thinking of healthcare mostly], grey areas abound, a lot of this stuff doesn't reduce to four-second soundbytes so it might not matter, few would pay attention [including myself here, just don't tune into ongoing detail, who says what, not sure whether this is apathy or a belief in pre-destination by the Natural Ruling Party] ..... but it might help if two parties were more evenly matched, especially if this was combined with more free voting, to build more of a tradition of bipartisanship, under which issues would matter more than political fortunes of the parties .... hah, yeah right ... but this is a good part of the reason i've voted Reform since the eighties, a feeling that some sort of viable opposition would do us good .... this might well turn around if/when the tories get two or three terms in power

'how do we allocate our remarkably limited resources' - more limited than many realise, what little we have need a rest - cbc.ca
.... we can't expect to guard our sovereignty, much less project canadian values in this world, while we show such little respect for our military
