Bush's popularity was not irrelevant when he asked the Germans and French for help. He had incurred their disapproval with his stance on Kyoto, Tariffs and International Court.

You are quite correct. Too many of the dem/lib crowd want to bow to the Europeans. They don't look closely at what the Europeans do....they just want to be seen as cool by Eurotrash.

The Dems will lose much of the jewish vote due to their seeming alliance with the new European Jew hating, Arab pacifying trend.

US interests include, to a large degree, maintaining good standing in community of nations. Trying to be the world's dictator is detrimental to our security....

>>> Bush's popularity in the world is irrelevant as long as he is doing his duty as the duly elected president and maintains at least 50% or more support at home.....It is Bush's duty to put US national interests first.....<<<

JLA--you just nailed it, and you don't even know it!

As a first note, your usage of the terms "duly elected president" has a nice sittingon the exaggeration scale. But that's a small point.

Here's the crux of the matter. You wrote: "...maintains at least 50% or more support at home..."

And it was precisely when that 50% level of support got threatened that Americans got their media-filled ears filtered with new lies (aluminum tubes, yellow cake from Niger, mobile WMD labs, manned and unmanned drones, etc.) or Al Qaeda connections or whatever as new justifications for this war. The Administration didn't care if truth became a victim so long as that 50% mark was maintained to enable the war, with or without UN support.
