One thing I really miss from when I lived in Arlington was fishing for catfish. Here in Florida it isn't much of a fishery.

The biggest I caught was 18 pounds in the Potomac, he pulled my kayak all over the place.

I worked in D.C. for six years and never did meet anyone who liked to fish, which is the strongest possible evidence that D.C. is way out of tune with the rest of the country.
