Bush immigration plan could affect techies
I guess his poll numbers were too high, so Bush decided to trim a few points? From CNET:

Details of President Bush's plan to tackle illegal immigration remain fuzzy, but the program could create a new way for technology employers to bring in foreign workers.
If so, the stage will be set for another round of debates about the practice of temporarily importing guest workers for tech tasks--already a sore spot for critics of the H-1B and L-1 visa programs.
"Should the Bush proposal be implemented, it would be disastrous for American programmers, engineers and everyone in the country who can't make a living on the stock market alone," said John Miano, founder of software programmer advocacy group the Programmer's Guild.

Bush's lobbyists want to extend visa programs to bring in cheap tech labor even though the unemployment rate for US trained engineers is at an all time high.

Every day that goes by, I think Bush has less and less of a chance of winning in 04. His handlers think he can get away with this stuff because his poll numbers say he can, but as we saw in Iowa, polls often misfire.

CNBC said the mkt went down today because Kerry won, meaning a Bush win in 04 is less certain. (uhh yeah)

I heard a commentator after Dean's enthusiastic display say that Bush Senior was almost comatose after he lost in Iowa. He added that the enthusiasm was preferred.
