Just imagine how they would have reacted if Clinton had a $500 Billion budget deficit. They certainly would have howled but it's ok when you have a Republican Congress and a Republican President.

The only problem with that Keynesian theory, Neo, is that --- while governments are supposed to stimulate by going into debt during recessionary periods --- they ALMOST NEVER do what they are supposed to when times are flush --- which is pay down the debt load they accumulated at the bottom of the business cycle.

The net result of this very human practice... is that debt continues to accumulate, interest costs rise, and government always gets bigger.

Inflation in the currency supply then acts as a HIDDEN TAX on the nation --- the kind politicians are most in favor of.
