So why didn't they just cap the amount of legal fees to be made off a lawsuit instead of the total amount? I suspect the number of lawyers who are lawmakers (a built in lobby) may have a little to do with that. If it is monetarily painful enough for the Bozo Doctors to continue to do business, at some point in time the self regulation aspect of the hospitals pemitting them to continue should kick in. I take the point of suing yourself effectively re: the shareholder lawsuits, but there should be a better way to control the nuisance of lawsuits and lawyers rather than capping the benefit of someone who should be compensated for their loss.
