where is the contract that says those 30 yr bonds can not be called?
If you can show me a contract, implicit or factual then I agree. Otherwise this probably should have been done months ago. As a taxpayer, this has been costing you and I money.

That's one of the reason yields can rise, on
treasuries - they are not risk free, especially in the
situation of unbalanced budget


that is NOT a default--it is a bond call. the bondholders get paid off at par. lots of bonds are callable.
