There the only standards we have.

Assuming that the universe was created by a thinking being (weather or not that being is anything like most conceptions of God) do we assume a priori that this being is good an not evil? (or the opposite for that matter) I would say no. If you have no facts that can be taken as given you can either refuse to think about or care about the question or you can use human standards and opinions to arrive at some conclusion. I don't find that idea silly.
