There is most likely some pain in wages. The fall from the Clinton recession was severe.

But economics is the art of analyzing trends. It's not a static science. If you could pick inflection points, you could make a lot of money. I believe this is an inflection point, but only time will tell. If employment doesn't pick up over the next six months, Bush will have trouble keeping his job (if the Dems run someone sane against him).
