William,

The last two DELL systems I ordered were done via the phone. Both times the price came out to $100 dollars less than the web price; the invoice showed "managers discount" which accounted for the price difference.

Ended up with 2 small desktop form factor Optiplex,256 mgb ram, 80 gb hard drive, CDRW, 17" flat panel, these were upgrades from original items that were not all available on the net, and the price was lower than quoted on the net. These go into a clients office setup that is running 2000 Pro on a network, so I needed to be able to upgrade to XP at no license cost later this Spring when the client upgrades their software to XP. Also, Win Office 2003 Basic which was required was not an available choice on the net.

Latest and greatest is not always necessary or cost efficient in a business environment. If you have special conditions or want something not generic you have to talk to someone.
