kakamongus...Well, I needed a little tech support from Dell today. I tried the online chat route which was fairly quick (waited about 4 minutes for a rep to come on for the session) but the advice was wrong. The last couple of days I had noticed that the green status light for the hard drive stayed on constantly on my Inspiron. The only thing I had done out of the ordinary was to run Disk Defrag (I'm using Windows XP) in the past few days. The guy said not to worry that something was probably running in the background. I didn't like his ("Garth_S") answer so started my own troubleshooting. Turns out my removable floppy drive was not seated properly in its bay. Smacked it home and the light turned off. At least I didn't have to deal with a foreign accent that I couldn't understand.
