I can't understand why Newmont would be buying other large producers at this stage. They are pretty pricey IMO, with the exception of Barrick. Maybe they expect a "good deal" on the market pull-back. Nonetheless, it seems like they would be better off buying out some hot-to-trot juniors with serious reserve potential. Simultaneously taking out Hunter Dickinson (controlling GBG & NDM) and Novagold might be a good first step.

What say your crystal ball? Rumors?
