"Very sad to see humans reduced to behaving much like a pack of sparrows freaking out over every shadow around a bird feeder. "

In short, YES IT IS.

I said a long time ago that if 9/11 changed "everything" (in people's minds, of course), then the terrorists have already won. I still think that. I just hope the country comes to its collective senses, and doesn't let them win. But I can't give you odds on that.

Well, yes. But when the sparrows see falcons starting to dive toward the feeder, the sensible ones take cover.

I liked the instructions to duct tape yourself in a closet. I did the calculations (I worked for a SCUBA company at one point) and for the air that they had in the FEMA guide, you'd suffocate yourself quite shortly. I guess the plan was to "clean up the gene pool" by suffocating people through their own actions. Cynical, but effective. If you had the brains to check the recommendations, you would survive. Very Darwinian.

Most likely it was just typical government incompetence and not a well-laid plan to asphyxiate the lesser humans. But the difference in impact would be .... what? Sometimes it doesn't matter if an act has malice - you're just as dead.
