Well I am certain opteron is not selling in the volumes of the wintel established base. However, for those of us that believe in Linux, there is not much of an incentive to start with Red Hat or SuSE 32 bit on Xeon. So I am afraid that your "Xeon's selling in the BILLIONS" (btw, Xeon sells less than 2 million chips per quarter according to IDC)... are legacy installations. Of course if there is no demand for opteron, and it isn't selling, etc.... then I'm sure these HP rumors will prove to be false. We will find out soon at either rate.
