The first thing we'd do is eliminate the payroll withholding process. Taxes for the year would be due on April 15. When people saw how much they'd be writing those checks for, they'd demand the cuts.

Having worked for Club Fed in a couple of positions, imo the problem is that there is too much "turf guarding" in the federal agencies and organizations.

The heads of the agencies (the real ones, not the political appointees) are appraised based on how much budget money they bring in, and they make damn sure that every penny is spent, because otherwise next year they won't get as big a cut of the budget. Efficiency isn't a big concern for them.

I think the only way to reform the process is that, instead of appointing people based on politics, the president were to appoint a bunch of "chainsaw al" types to head the agencies.

There's more to foreign aid than many people realize. Much of the money is used to assist in the repayment of outstanding loans to US banks.
