Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful analyses... As a 'newbie' who has only been following the markets since the late 90's and who got burned bad by the bear, I am very reluctant to buy at anything other than bargain basement prices. So I am sitting things out now, for the most part, and have been taken profits the last few months... (At least I have some!)

I'm not sure you can read from me what other newbies are thinking, but my impulse (which I will try to resist) is to jump in late when I am convinced that we are solidly in a new bull market, with all the major corrections behind us.

I will post to you guys when I do so you can sell...

dan

I really do think that the equips have yet to have their run. I am not a chartist but always found the relationship between intc and amat interesting. And intc has far outperformed amat so far during this rally and intc competition has yet to do the capex intc did a few years ago. I can see shortages and higher asps as MH said in an earlier post. I think what clouds the vision is that the markets came off such an extreme low that the fact that amat may have doubled from that bottom takes on too much significance. mike
