Let me tell you why it doesn't fly- because the real issue with globalization is the emergence of India and China, especially China which has sort of pulled India up. As long as China was essentially a communist country, globalization was 1/10 the problem vs. today. So really, to say that this issue of offshoring started in 72 is disingenous and just another way the Bush people try to explain away the Bush inadequacies. This globalization problem came into being in the very late 90s or 00/01. In other words it is Bush's problem and Bush's alone. The first thing that needed to be done, ****immediately****, was the negotiation and float of Yuan. But since this president can't negotiate himself out of a paper bag, it was no dice. So we're screwed until we get a new president or 07 rolls around. I expect the former occurs first. It is not all or nothing. Thank you for recognizing that small industry does not export the jobs...that is a clue for you... The absolute statements almost always tend to be exagerrations...pointless and lead to less credibilty. Let me tell you whats pointless, the fact that Bush supporters try to explain this IP export situation and brain drain away as if it is a transitory or short term problem. Sorry, I don't buy it, 15 more years of this IP exportation and the US as nothing more than a labor broker and guess what, we are a banana republic around 2015. So, tell us what you would do to create jobs that are not needed because we are just now coming out of the Clinton recession LOL!!! busting a gut here! Listen, there are more workers doing the same jobs than before so lay off the "not needed" part. If you don't understand the phenomenon of offshoring and you get into a discussion with ME, somebody who knows all about it, try to keep your head above water and lay off the Bush FUD. Workers ARE needed, and they are being added, EN MASSE - in India. There are no productivity gains anymore, NONE, if you look at real employees. The whole issue is not even US competitiveness, it is US COST of labor. Well here is my plan, stop allowing companies like HP and Intel and Oracle who used taxpayer dollars to fund inventions that they built their companies around offshore their workforces, how is that? We have laws like this already for the auto industry. We don't let japan dump cars here, they have to **manufacture** here. We will need those laws for all industries now. ALL. Next float the yuan. Next cut all social security taxes and allow workers to opt out of the program, because India is tax EXEMPT for all offshore workers- surprise!!! Of course Bush isn't capable of doing much about globalization at this point due to his terrible leadership and decisions made prior, and consequently he will continue to ignore the problems until 05 when he is replaced.
