So how come I knew, and they didn't?

Then, how come President Clinton didn't know?

Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.

The correct vote was to rally the UN and give the inspectors time, backed by a very real threat of force. That meant positioning troops in Kuwait and giving Bush war powers if only as a bluff, but also as last resort permission to go in blazing. I emphasis LAST RESORT.

Before before one invaded it was common sense to demand precise post-war planning, a wider coalition and to continue what were acually successful UN inspections. What was the rush? All this was Kerry's position.

So far as I know, Dean's position was similar backing Biden-Lugar, then he changed his mind and went totally against the war when it resonated as a campaign issue. Dean was not anto-war in the beginning, he was just suspicious. But Kerry knew something that Dean didn't know, that no matter what the vote, the Bushies were going to invade sometime anyway. I heard that from Kerry personally 18 months ago.

Therefore, if it's going to happen anyway, do it the right way and plan smart before you make your move. BTW: Even if Saddam had no WMD's he was still a big-time pest, and he did have something to do with the first attempt to blow up the WTC.
