I was able to get xp pro loaded but the 9590 mb disk had only 3102 MB free. In addition to that I was not able to access one of the users on the machine. I am now in the process of formatting the drive and reloading XP pro. Hopefully that will work. I am lucky in that I have all my important files on a new desktop that I back up to an external HD. To be on the safe side I image the drive weekly. Unfortunately, the laptop had no such fail safe. On top of this I am in the process of buying a house, and we are having unexpected guests arriving today.

Thecow, Any idea why lately I can't get the charts on Yahoo to display? I set the security level to low, and still it doesn't work. Thanks, Steve

I am trying to restore my hard drive using the recovery cd containing w98se. Unfortunately, at the end of the format process or possibly the install process, the screen just goes black and the orange light comes on. I have no idea what this means. I am on my 5th attempt now and going nuts. Each time i have restarted the computer with the power button and it wants to boot to the cd. I have done this procedure numerous times in the past without incident with this machine and recovery disk. Any thoughts, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. gw
