"Any more questions?"

Actually, I didn't have any questions in my previous post. However, I do have some now.

Are the institutions that are buying AWE just hoping that a greater fool will overpay for AWE's assets, or are they really that stupid? Is it possible that they don't know that AWE's network is antiquated and that they're losing customers rapidly? And, if all that's true, don't they realize that the potential bidders for AWE - who presumably know the players in this industry better than most of us - know the same?

It just seems like a pretty risky game that they're playing - with some pretty big bets. Unless, of course, there's some hidden value that only they know about.

Otherwise, your arguments are very compelling.

tinkershaw, re "Without a buyout AWE finds itself in trouble having the most antiquated network amongst the major players in the U.S. and losing customers like a sieve."

No argument here about AWE losing customers, but I don't understand why you say their network is antiquated. Didn't AWE just announce the availability of EDGE nationwide? If true, that has them with the highest data throughput in the U.S. -- at least until Verizon has CDMA2000 1xEV-DO nationwide.

The GSM RTT (for voice) might be considered antiquated, I guess. But even here, voice capacity has been improved with Adaptive Multi-Rate codecs .. and the improved data capacity of EDGE, relative to GPRS, leaves more spectrum for voice services, IMO.

Regards, Ron

I don't have access to the Fool's NPI board.

Can you please recap your "con" assessment of ARMHY's report on this board? (Perhaps any pros as well).

Thanks,
