BTW- private schools can cherry pick. They won't take expensive disabled students, or students who use up administrative resources because they are behavior problems. Yet those children must be educated somewhere.

I am very much against private education on principle. I think our society must have universal public education in order to hold our population together. It is one of the few things most people have in common- yet I think people take it for granted, and they take it for granted because most of them got a very decent public education, so they don't think about it- until they whine in public about teacher's unions. If only people were rational creatures.
