Sistani supports the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, and generally supports the Americans. He is merely worried that a federal constitution will deprive the Shi'a of too much, and that the Americans will overstay. To him, we are "contingent liberators", that is, if we do not sell out his constituency, or prolong the interim period.
