Ted, The bulk of the increase is going for the war, homeland security and GOP pork.

Do the math. The war itself is what, $56B, $75B, $87B? That's less than 20% of the $500B budget deficit. Overall defense spending is going up by 7%, i.e. $30B. That's another 6%. What is accounting for the rest? GOP pork? Pork on both sides of the fence is amounting to $23B. (http://www.detnews.com/2004/politics/0401/16/a01-37672.htm)
