RE:"We spend more than the next 20 countries combined on defense - why?"

The joke is we won't even use it to defend our own borders.
Defended Kuwait though, and Iraq.

I think we should sell the US military to China. Oh wait, we're already doing that! Never mind.

Seriously I just saw that the US military budget is 400 billion for next year. This is unsustainable. Joe 6 pack doesn't really benefit from the US military whereas US multinationals, the same people who ship their workforces offshore to skirt taxes, do. Therefore corp taxes should pay for the entire military budget. Problem solved! I'll type up the 50 billion dollar bill and send it to IBM and Carly Fiorina tomorrow.

I have always been a proponemt of a certain level of isolationism. I believe we should have a doctrine that says any attack on Us would be retaliated with Nucklear oblivion to the attacker. Then we could moth ball the army and live in peace. After 9/11 if we had nuked Riyad, damascus, and kabul I think governments would think twice about supporting terrorists.

I am kidding to a certain degree, but am an isolationist at heart.

Ya, until they need it again.
