Zonder brought up the atom bomb situation in response to a specific dubious assertion by Hodgkins. I think she showed appropriate restraint in not being diverted onto your "we ask the questions" sidetrack.

Zonder indicated that the bombs dropped in Japan were WMD. I did not argue with her opinion about that. I merely asked her what she would have done in Truman's shoes. She chose not to answer the question

Because I am not familiar with all the details of what exactly his "shoes" were like.

Still, in short, what I can confidently tell you is that I would NOT nuke two civilian cities and incinerate its civilian inhabitants, even if it meant, in some calculation, that I could hypothetically be saving more headcount by quickly ending the war. I have never fought in a war, but I am fairly certain that I would not participate nor condone any mass killing of civilians - this, by the way, happens to be a classic "crime against humanity" as per its definition post-WWII, so I am not alone in finding the annihilation of two civilian cities rather atrocious.
