Maurice,

I was not aware of the advances the Chinese have been making wrt computer input. I am sincerely impressed. I have asked people to explain to me how the systems work, but I could never get a decent explanation.

I thought they had to key in "HanYuPinYin" type characters and then they would get a choice list of the exact characters to choose from.

Another thing I don't understand is that we have 26 characters to choose from to make up a word - so just using the average number of characters in a word (5 letters), there are over a million combinations for words with only 5 character in them.

If the Chinese have only 5 symbols to form a character (as per Yiwu), there are only 3125 combinations. Also how does their dictionary work (maybe that requires another thread to discuss that).

In any case, I don't know that much about this subject (so get off by back, folks <ggggg>) and I am impressed with the advances the Chinese are making in this area.
