Vi - What's the advantage of being the world's reserve currency? Is it for greater stability so they can issue more debt notes? It seems that's the biggest benefit per USD case. I read somewhere that a few European countries have been trembling when the euro starts making new highs vs U$D. I don't have a clear picture on this.

Also ECB's (Swiss, I think) have been and are reducing (selling) their gold reserves. I take that to mean they want to weaken the euro. Gold reserve tends to stabilize and provides support to the currency. I must be off base on this one too.
