Maybe he's the kind of person that just has bad judgement and flops around on the issues like a fish out of water? Let's think about that. Kay was a hawk on the war. He was hand picked by the Bush administration to accomplish a task that was vital to their credibility-documenting the dangerous wmd capabilities of Iraq that necessitated the horror, and killing, and death of war. He was given resources that were mind boggling, including many of our desperately needed linguists, scientific experts and huge amounts of funding. He was given free access to any areas and, more importantly, to any Iraqis that would and should have known about the wmds. In short he had the motive, the means and the desire to prove the Bush administration right, if he could. He was constantly touted with the saying "wait until Dr. Kay reports." Then the report was delayed. Finally the resources were partially diverted. Ultimately Dr. Kay said that there was little of no chance the wmds were there at the time when we said they were. "We were all wrong." In a hearing he was asked about his statement that we wouldn't find "large stockpiles" of wmds and finally admitted that in his opinion we wouldn't find "small stockpiles" either. Jlallen has consistently crowed that Dr. Kay would substantiate the presence of wmds and has stated that he would "wait for Kay's report." Now we've heard from Dr. Kay and yet the extremist Jlallen and, more surprisingly, the moderate Bald Eagle and the self proclaimed objective thinker Neocon, all claim that they think that Kay may be wrong. What chance do you think there is that the man who spent tens, or hundreds, of millions of dollars to find the wmds, who had access to any Iraqi scientist and any intelligence from those captured and "debriefed," and who had access to reams of documents on their programs, got it wrong? Maybe there weren't substantial incentives offered to those Iraqis that "knew" the truth to come clean? Get real. Maybe it's time to examine just how objective you really are when it comes to analyzing the facts about some of these issues? Maybe it's time to recognize that this is too important to view in terms of partisan politics? Maybe it's time to recognize that the Bush administration has been wrong in a series of bad judgements ranging from the reasons for the war, to the likely aftermaths following the collapse of the Iraqi regime, and now including the ultimate outcome and how it will affect American interests? I'm reminded of a line I heard in a movie once; "just because you say it don't mean it's true." Think of that when you hear the relentlessly repeated bullshit from both sides, and especially when you hear it as reason for dying and killing. A lot of families of dead Americans and dead Iraqis are owed our obligation to critically examine the facts and make fair and informed choices in the next election.
