<<<What the "Operation Iraqi Freedom" cheerleaders on this thread are missing (not because they can't understand but because they simply don't want to), is that this represents a total misdirection of the crucial war on the perpetrators of 9/11. Our money, servicemen, and political and economic pressure should have instead been massively expended on N Korea, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. I'm talking occupation, regime change, and apprehension of terrorists who attacked the US; I'm talking about fighting the REAL enemy.>>>

Forget Saudi Arabia:
Invasion would produce the most massive retribution and condemnation of the US in history.
Accused of stealing 25 % of the worlds oil and the only fields big enough to provide excess production to control world oil prices. Perhaps deposing or imprisoning 1000 Princes of the Realm who direct all phases of the economy.
A massive withdrawal of funds from the US by SA and other nations that once were our friends and which would crush our markets and drive us into a depression.
<<<Details of Saudi investments in the US are sketchy but financial analysts believe they range between $400bn and $600bn. The funds are invested in private equity, the stock and bond markets and real estate. The figures include investments by members of the royal family.>>>
The Saudis have a defense against our military -a very sharp economic sword. We have not yet seen terrorists like the ones they could employ against us if they became our sworn enemy.
