since I went to Cal I know that I posted a presentation which was complementary to the class. But the point is that real world examples are presented in a university setting.

All university classes are _INTRODUCTIONS_ to respective
disciplines. Period. You cannot teach an undergrad or grad anything of practical use for corporations,


COMPLETELY untrue. If you knew anything about the history of Sun or SGI or Netscape you would know this wasn't true. These companies were built on the back of engineering eminating from Cal (and other universities). There was no company, only BSD. Sun came later.
