disaffected workers sampled in the household survey who have downgraded their aspirations and simply won’t admit to the tougher reality

First of all, the "household survey" is bogus, IMO.

Secondly, this "pride in America" BS basically amounts to individuals looking back at the "successful" generation of their parents. Who are retired with full Medicare and SS benefits. They "worked hard," and are now "rewarded" for their "hard work."

Third, all unemployed feel some sort of ridiculous "shame" at being "unworthy."

They "deserve it." Says Bush. Say the corrupt CEOs. Says Wall Street. The club of the McKinley-ites.

"You're goddamned lucky you have a job at ALL!!," says Nike to the slaves in its Chinese/Taiwanese sweat shop factories. NKE goes back well into the late '80s for slave labor; spending the "excess" on extravagant advertising campaigns to sell their wildly overpriced shoes to inner city ghetto demographics.

Nice guy, that "Phil." His net worth must exceed $100 million these days. (CEO of Nike).

I'm sure he'll be voting for George W. Bush. More US tax savings to add to his personal fortune.
