quite a few men of these religions would either like to try polygamy Sure, there will be some. So maybe we get as many as ten thousand across the country. I say "so what." Those "quite a few men" will have to find willing partners. Polygamy as it's been practiced is a lousy life style for a woman, IMO, most of the time, but some may choose it and others will have no better options. Some people join polar bear clubs. Some people join cults. Some people live alone in the wilderness. None of that brings down civilization. Remember, Nadine, that whatever any of these folks want to do, they will do whether they're legally married or not. Mormon men have harems right now. The question is would the opportunity for legal marriage create more such arrangements or just bring the ones that already exist out of the woodwork. And in either case, what exactly are we afraid will result?
