Oh, you need to read The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for all that. Augustus is the slippery slope that leads to Nero and Caligula and then the Romans are no longer being led by the senate OR the aristocracy. Lots of marrying your sister and men marrying men going on among that sort. At least, that's an article of faith among many who oppose public acceptance of homosexuality. I can only assume that there are many who would engage in orgiastic wild monkey sex with anything that moved and beat each other senseless for fun and profit, but for fear of going to hell. At least, that seems to be what they're hinting. Edit: revising the inheritance laws for polygamy would be a complete pain. Unbelieveable hassle. You've no idea. Ouch. Oh, no.
