You know Cuba is interesting. I remember posting once on Faultline's Foreign Policy thread and getting a response from someone about how Cuba wasn't a beneficiary of 50 years of US economic development.

I then conducted a search on what Cuba has and what the countries in Latin and South America have. It turned out Cuba ranked in nearly every instance far above those other nations in terms of employment, health care, infant mortality, number of internet, radio and tv connections--a whole range of things studied.

It's too bad for America's small farmers that our political leaders couldn't have found a way to share a bit with Cuba as many would have benefitted and, who knows, maybe many would have learned something.
