That is the problem, the good old boys in the 43 administration have taken carte blanche with all of this post 9-11 'security' & military spending. And it only starts there. They have gone over the edge, just look at some of the spending bills. Long time DC insiders can't believe what is going on.. Look at the prescription drug plan they came out with. The way it looks to me it is a nice pension plan for big pharma... We have gone from a 2 party, checks & balances situation to a real mess. (I am all for lower taxes, but someone has to pay for all of this sooner or later) And the reality is, as we have discussed before, state & local taxes & fees are way up, not to mention the increases in all lines of insurance.

If you look at entitlement programs which began with FDR the liberals put us in this position. GW has too much of his dad in him in that he panders to what the liberals want. Reagan wouldn't do that as played the bully pulpit unlike GW who wants to try to work with everyone like he did in Texas. The problem is Washington is much different and I think he is finding that out. Its a damned if do-don't situation so whatever he does he will draw critisism. He had to clear the air today on his military service since the liberals are trying to find anything they can to attack him. How many years did Willy serve again as I forgot. I don't like this any more than you do but look at the big picture as to when all of this started and who put us in this mess.
