I think its obvious that this gay marriage brouhaha is just a winger attempt to divert attention from the real issues of war and trade that are going to be much more difficult to fix for republicans. Ever since the wingers adopted these far right social values, they have enjoyed consistent support of a group of frightened ignorant folks in the country that are so homophobic it trumps all other issues in their lives. In the past, when things were good this approach worked. Not this time. Gay marriage just isn't a concern when iraq is facing the possibility of civil war and the deficit is the highest ever.

Great to see your open mind. I think the reason that I have changed from Republican conservative is that the Liberals I met seemed to me to be more socially AWARE, in touch with HUMAN BEINGS...other than their own selfish interests and greed and lastly were TOLERANT of anyone deviating from their conception of what was morally RIGHT. I am against the government getting into the private lives of its citizens with what their concept of what is morally right is. When two of my students, males, put guns to their heads..(.in the sixties now)... different time...and blew their brains out because of fear of being Gay I took a big turn left. I have been fighting for human rights,civil rights and other rights........that are people's rights all my life. Your post # 1708 is appreciated..and the way you expressed it laudable. Suma
