That makes everyone a "special interest" in a sense. Some of these "special interests" obviously have more power than others, even disproportionately so.

By self serving I meant getting a financial advantage, which probably counts toward 80% of political contributions.

I don't see that in Soros. Yes he has a world view, framed by an interesting history. But that's political.

I could be wrong. Maybe he's long the dollar, and figures our currency will go to near worthless with another 4 Bush years.

And he's a small player in the hypocrisy game. I would recommend you look at the "compassionate conservative" for the ultimate example.
