OK, I agree that the free traders are hurting their cause by just digging in their heels and ignoring politics. Yet I'm very disturbed by the protectionist platforms of the Democratic candidates. Every Democratic presidential candidate since FDR has supported free trade. In fact, a key reason for Reagan's success among union workers was his support of free trade.
