Unfortunately, folks like you and others seem to be obsessed with using me as a whipping boy for the excruciating psychological pain "9/11" had inflicted on you all. And so when presumptuous/pompous/arrogant/unreasonable.... folks (and those trying or pretending to be such for whatever perverse reason) went all out to insult and rile me, I responded in kind. Shit for shit and acid for acid! I must admit I do enjoy giving back in kind and yanking the chains of those who attacked me gratuitously. On hindsight, I notice that many of these attacks stemmed from misunderstanding/misperception/ignorance/etc & etc. ".... Here is a post from you on Sept. 11 2001. At this time is was not known just how many innocent people were murdered by radical islam. Please explain how this may have been misunderstood? A cocky bunch of folks !!! Have you ever heard of the term "UGLY AMERICAN" being applied to almost any American citizen? especially in the 60s and 70s? In fact a book entitled "The Ugly American" was written by an American observer and it explains that epithet. The Vietnam experience was humbling but the media took pains to make the US withdrawal look like an "honorable" thing. The Somali experience was humbling, too, but the news media gave it scant coverage so that many Americans hardly noticed what had happened. Way back in Reagen's time, Americans in the Middle East were warned by Israel's Mossad (it had uncovered the death-dealing plot while looking for something else) that their soldiers' lives were in danger of a Palestinian attack. The cocky Americans dismissed the Mossad intelligence, apparently thinking they knew better and could overcome anything. That was until a suicide Palestinian crashed, about a week later, his explosives-laden truck into an American army depot and blew lots of soldiers sky high. Of course, shortly after that, the US retaliated by slamming "smart" rockets into the killers' rocky hideouts. (Israelis are using similar tactics these days.) When the dust of the present tragedy clears, I believe there will be much finger-pointing regarding lax American security in America. Many will ask why the #1 nation (and policeman) of the world failed to foresee and avert such a mind-boggling catastrophe. Perhaps the smugness and self-complacency of the Americans will be recognized for the first time? Message 16334370
