Please Brian, don't be so naive. Of course its about the oil.

I guess I just take your simple one liners at face value.

You don't like my one liners not because they are simple but rather because you know they are true.

Of course we care about the middle east more than, say, Africa because of oil. We would be stupid not to.

Yeah, the smart guy knows the oil is worth its weight in gold. BTW that's the same smart guy who managed to get out of the Vietnam War. That's also the same smart guy who does well in the stock market because he has a direct line to insider trading and knows how not to get caught. I guess this smart guy embodies the 21st century version of the American dream.

However it is also stupid to claim that our army was there "because of the oil". Frankly, if it was about the oil, we would have pressed to have the sanctions lifted.

We would have? Why? Saudi Arabia had us covered. I know.....that's the same SA the right complains is screwing us every chance they get by supporting OBL. Nonetheless, for at least a decade now, SA has stepped up whenever there was not enough oil in the world in order to keep prices down, enabling us to keep our economy chugging. Granted, their effort was not necessarily altruistic but nonetheless, it worked for us. So why would we want the sanctions lifted? We didn't need Iraqi oil.

Obviously it was not about the oil, but you continue to harp on that to try and rile up the simple minded leftists who hate anything oil related.

Once again you insult; that is, if you meant Al, John, Z, et al when you refer to the left. I hardly think they are simple minded nor do I think I could possibly rile them up any more than Bush already has.
