That is an interesting observation. Bush was fairly strong in Nevada in 2000.

I was in San Diego (a conservative town with a large military presence) this morning. On a popular radio station, they were playing some Bush malapropisms and the DJs were openly making fun of him. The DJs segued right into CSNY's "Four Dead in Ohio".

I was amazed.

Cheney is for using public landfills as nuclear waste dumps. Cheney has always been a bigtime nuke supporter. Halliburton and Bectel bukld bucelar plants and Cheney's dream is to buld hnudreds of tem at tax-payer expense then dump the waate in everuyone's backyard but his own. Odious man Cheney, a real corrupt stinker. During the phony energy crisis he and his cronies told us if we didnt build 1300 new power plants (paid for by us to his cronies) we would suffer infinite blackouts.

Well, I read a few mos ago that the 5 most contested states included NV,MO,MI,OH and one other (can't recall). MoveOn ran an ad in each of these markets prior to the primaries. So at least then, NV was considered a key state and winnable for dems.

Since that time I believe Bush has become much more vulnerable, some states like MI seems like the dems have already won, and the sense that Bush wins a landslide in the south has weakened a little. Back then, the republicans thought they would have another 99 style booming economy on their hands. NV was always in play because Bush's environmental record is so bad. NV, AZ, NM are going to be tough for Bush on environmental issues alone, forgetting all the other massive screwups.
