However, its one year later and I know a lot more about the man than I did then. And frankly, I think you're comments were way chickensh*t! Ted, I've already responded to the content of your post, but I had to go back for this one. I gave you my opinion of him then, and I stand by it now. I still feel the same way about him. How exactly is that "way chickensh*t"? Is that some kind of crack? What a bizarre way to describe an opinion. Just curious. Everything I've read about Edwards is that he is a self made man that worked hard to get where he's at. He has conducted his race with a level of civility rarely found in political races. He worked hard in the Senate and had a good attendance and participation rate. Now it looks to me like you dissed him mostly because he was from the wrong party. If that's true, then that's chickensh*t in my book. I don't always agree with a candidate's ideology but I can respect the person. That's really the name of the game......how competent are they, are they helping all the people they represent and are they working for the betterment of their state and country. That is why I was registered as an independent. Until GW Bush, I tended to cross back and forth between parties at least on a local level. It was only on a national level I tended to vote Dem. Of course, the exception to that rule was the first Bush. In CA and WA State, the ideological differences between the parties usually are not that extreme. I thought Richard Riordan, a Rep., would make a great mayor of LA so I voted for him....and he did make a great mayor. Had I been in CA, I would have voted against the recall but I probably would have voted for Arnold. Now I will vote straight Dem. no matter what. The GOP has gained too much power in this country, and I don't like the ideological wing that's in the forefront of the party. Bottomline: If this country is going to survive intact, we have to get back to that place where we had ideological differences but we could still respect each other. From what I can see, Edwards does not have skeletons in his closet nor is not a despicable man. He appears to bright and capable and a fair man. You may not agree with his politics but he is not the piglet you described a year ago. ted
