CR, at that time we had no way of knowing that our intelligence was flawed. Every American, based on past experience with Iraq in 1991 and based on what our President told us was apprehensive that chemical weapons would be used against the US forces during their March on Baghdad.

Paul O'Neil said it correctly when he said that from day 1 trhe Bush White House had a plan to attack Iraq. it was not the intelligence flaw, though the report that the intelligence did not say "imminent threat."

So when Dean attacked the President and proclaimed that he opposed the war from day one, he lost credibility with most people.

However as you rightly say, what did Dean in was when he changed his focus from the issues.

Also "it ain't done till it is done." I think Dean failed to grasp the truth of that statement. I hope Kerry will keep this foremost in his mind and not allow himself to become another Dean. I hope he will keep himself focussed and not adopt a demeanor of a President before the elections in Nov 2004.

CR, can we fault someone for believing the President. Especially when American lives are at stake?

Thanks For The Excellent Response CR.How Refeshing!LOL!

" But I also think Kerry will make a strong candidate too ".

Most Dean supporters can take to backing Kerry , and they will once the game has been played out fully, even though most will never forgive him for his slimball tactics.

But what I've been trying to get across here and there is that Kerry himself has some issues that need straightening out,and by the Dems and he himself before he goes into battle against the machine called RNC.Otherwise the RNC machine may just run him over if he is not prepared.

" But, at some point, Dr. Dean stopped talking about the issues and started focusing on how much money he was raising; how many supporters he had on the internet. I think this is what hurt him more than anything. ""...

NO..NO//NOOOO!!!

Dean did not stop talking issues at all,it was the media that got on this bandwagon and diverted attention away from his issues stance and towards an inevitability and money issues, personality, his wife , his Vermont records , all fed by the RNC A-N-D the DNC!!

He tried to play down his position time and time again, because he was the only one receiving scrutiny.Remember Joe Looserman saying he'd wish someone would attack him? That's how one sided it became. It was Dean against everyone who wanted him to lose, and there were many in many powerful positions of influence, both inside the DNC and elsewhere..who fit that description.

" I admire Dr. Dean. America is in his debt. But we owe it to Howard Dean to take the first step and remove Bush from office. "....

Dean did take the first steps...long..long ago...when people weren't paying enough attention.

I had been following this for more than a year ,and I know exactly who was saying what and where..and to whom...and why...

Dean was right...right from the start..to this very day..

But one rule in politics and business...

The best candidate doesn't always get the promotion.

Thanks again...

Take care...

KC

Yes, Dean deserves credit on several fronts.
Now let the closer close the deal.
