These denials are suspicious, and I think an investigation is warranted.

Perhaps he means an investigation of the rumor spreaders? <g>

Seriously, I take his point. The problem is who would do an investigation and how would it be accomplished. The media, including Rush, are free to continue to investigate. Is that what he means? Surely he doesn't expect a Congressional investigation or a criminal investigation. You can't haul the victim of a rumor before a grand jury (even if a crime were alleged) or before Congress and have her explain herself. If the affair occurred, the principals aren't talking, and Linda Tripp didn't tape it, there's nothing to be done. He should know when to stop digging.

. In light of this [three denials], we need an investigation

And I suppose we wouldn't need an investigation if any of them had admitted it? When Rush smells blood, he has the ethical sensibilities of a shark.
