Wouldn't it be nice to have a campaign without any of this crap? Probably every presidential candidate except Dukakis and Carter have had affairs. The Bush AWOL issue same type of crap.

What more do you want? One thing I want is to know whether the rumor that she gave interviews in which she admitted it actually happened. I would prefer a tape, second best would be a transcripts, third best would be a written statement by her, but short of those I would accept a reputable journalist who interviewed her. I would like to have her make the same statement under penalty of perjury -- while she was in a jurisdiction where perjury meant something. If she's in Kenya, and stays there, she can say anything she wants under penalty of perjury of US laws and it means little or nothing. I would like to know whether she told anybody at the time that she was having an affair. I would like to know how far in advance her trip to Kenya was planned, and whether she received any financial assistance, and if so from whom, to make the trip. If it could be shown that Kerry or one of his close supporters paid for her trip, for example, that would be of great interest to me. I would like to know whether Cleark really said what he was reported to have said, and if so why he would have said it. I would like to know whether Dean thinks there's something in the story that will destroy Kerry, and if that's the reason he changed his mind about dropping out of the race if he loses in Wisconsin. Of course, a semen stained sheet that she kept around would be pretty compelling, but I doubt that any such will surface at this point. Basically, I would like the press to give the same attention to this story that they gave to the Genevive Flowers story, to the Monica story, to the Bush reserve service story, etc. It may well be that there is in fact nothing there. But you and I both know tht simple denials at the start of a political scandal can be completely true, completely false, or somewhere inbetween, and that you can never know just from the denials. After all, Nixon was not a crook, and Clinton did not have sex with that woman. And we know how truthful THOSE denials were.
