Nadine, before I respond to many posts I find you have already done so. Often expressing my thoughts much better than I could have.

<<And to supporting a fp that would have left Saddam in power. Is that really what you would have preferred?>>

No, not at all. I am delighted, just like I believe everyone on this thread is, that Saddam is removed from power. The world will always be a better place without this kind of despot at large but I vehemently believe that had not Iraq been sitting on the 2nd largest reserve of oil in the world that he would still be commanding his reign of terror on his own people without our intervention. You can't prove me wrong on this point and all I can say to back my opinion is that WE'RE THERE AND HE'S GONE....and who's controlling the flow of oil?!? If we're in the business of removing tyrants because of human rights violations then let's be consistent and take care of all of them. Let's not lie to our people about reasons for invasion and then blame it on questionable intelligence. Before we start building democracies let's start acting like one.

<<So you will support France's policy over ours>>

Please tell me where I have stated that I support France's policy??? My point that is obviously being missed is that some here scold other nations for policies that we are just as guilty of ourselves. Is it really that hard to see?!?!?!? I would never support any policy of exploitation.

<< after he had proved himself ten times worse than he was in the early 80s?>>

Please prove to me how he was ten times worse than he was in the 80's. If you really want to get technical about it he was pretty much at his "tyrannical" peak in the 80's and early nineties. Since Gulf war 1 he was in charge of a country financially torn by sanctions, he had little or no control over the northern and southern portions because of US imposed no-fly-zones and a severely de-fanged military. His WMD capability obviously thwarted to the point of non-existence, incredibly weak links to any Al Qaeda connection ....what had he done lately that he wasn't just as guilty of in the past? Are you trying to say that we only supported him when he was "not such a bad" tyrant?!?
