Interesting thing about that selection of muslim jokes, I think I've seen every one of them before with different religions and/or ethnic backgrounds. The humour is in the act of outsmarting/upstaging itself, and is universal.

As for being preoccupied with religion, what exactly did you expect when you searched for "muslim jokes"?

OJ: actually a story I heard yesterday, probably apocryphal.

Boris Yeltsin was being interviewed by US journalists shortly after he had taken over from Gorbachev in Russia. After a while one of the jouralists asked bluntly "If you had to sum up the state of the Russian economy in one word, what would that word be?"

Yeltsin thought for a few moments. "Good".

A competent journalist always has a follow-up question ready. "And if you had two words, what would they be?"

Yeltsin pondered this for quite a while before answering. "Not good".
