Haven't protests always had to get a permit, and been allocated a place to meet? I don't remember protests of previous administrations happening in the faces of the VIPs.

Now, when the protesters are staging a march by themselves, it's different. Seems to me I recall one or two such marches happening before the Iraq war. They went right through Washington.

So what exactly is the novelty Ashcrost is accused of? Sending the demonstrators an extra block or two away from the VIPs?

If the people doing the protesting were sophisticated enough to engage in civil discourse there wouldn't be any need for restrictions.....which btw have been on the books for a very long time........ but they've proven over and over again that they won't respect organizations who have opinions that differ from their own by shouting down those ideas as well as stooping to destroying property.

It is almost like a room full of children....these people only respect the law when it's their turn to speak.

Too bad for those who choose to violate someone's right to free speech. Their actions create situations that require the protection of the law. The idea is simplistic and it is troubling that the protesters don't understand that concept.

Most Americans can see right through it.
